How do I get into History of Art.
In order to start this brief comment I may say that I dreamed about being many many things when I was a little boy. Some of those dream where to be a singer or an actor. Then, a famous archaeology and travel all around the world. Third, and the most important dream I have when I was a child, was to be a chef. I always thought that was my north, because I love cook all kind of different recipes and I enjoy try knew dishes from foreing cultures.
In one of my last years at school I decided to take a philosophy course in Estudio Bellavista, motivated for my love to the subject. It was a short course of a few months. It was called Introduction to modern thinking. After the course ended I knew what I wanted to study in the university, what I wanted as a career. I was decided to enter the Philosophy faculty of the Chilean University, although my grades at school where awful, so I knew I needed to compensate my four years of laziness studying really hard for the PSU. I took a year for it, and in that period a took another course at Estudio Bellavista, this time. Aesthetic. As the time flew by that sabbatic year, my dream of enter the Philosophy faculty started to banish, and became a dream of enter to the Faculty of Art, in order to study History and Theory of art, a career that combine my favorite interested. I knew as well, that in that career, I would be aveilable to study the part that I love the most of philosophy, aesthetic. Although my mind wasn't clear until the day of postulation (I did pretty well at PSU by the way), so I let my impulse to decided for my and I "click" the History and Theory of art option instead of the Philosophy one.
I have no regrets whit my option until to day, actually I believe I did a very smart choice, I love it here. And I suppose its because it takes my dreams of knowledge and traveling (archaeology), and whit traveling the different food (chef). After I graduate I want to travel in order to be available to see all the painters that I admire, and then, if I got lucky, work in a important museum and develop a career as a successful Art historian.
